Among dozen of beaches in Yogyakarta, Pantai Jogan is the most unique indeed. And what makes it unique is because it has its own waterfall which flows right into the shore. It’s very charming.
Pantai Jogan is situated to the west of Pantai Siung Gunungkidul. The distance is about 70 km from the center of Yogyakarta. You’ll need 2 hours of drive to get into the location. The road is already in good condition. It’s a winding road, so you need to be careful. When you arrive at a post in Pantai Siung, it means you’re only 400 m away. Just follow the direction
If you want to use public transport, you could start from Giwangan bus station. Take a bus in direction to Wonosari. Then take another vehicle in direction to Desa Tepus or Pantai Siung.
The beach itself is surrounded by cliffs and limestone hills. Arriving on the area, you should found a pathway that leads to the waterfall. The waterfall came from to small rivers. It’s best to be seen in rainy season, where there is a lot more water.
If you want to get wet under the waterfall. You could go down by following a small path on the side of the cliffs. Be careful though, because it’s very steep and slippery.
Reaching the base of the cliffs, you will find some red crabs that lives under the rocks. They’re not dangerous at all, some locals would even capture them and cook them.
You could then enjoy the beach and the atmosphere that will take you for a moment to another world.0
